Winanga-li Gunimaa Gali collaboration

Over the past few years I’ve been working with Gomeroi/Kamilaroi custodians, environmental managers, teachers, and researchers, on the Winanga-li Gunimaa Gali project. The work brings people together to learn through place – slowing down, listening, and building relationships with Country and each other.

The project is about improving the health of the Gwydir wetlands and waterways, while supporting stronger Gomeroi/Kamilaroi say in how they are cared for.

My role involves research, storytelling, and communication: recording oral histories, digital storytelling, and creating short documentary pieces. Across multiple trips, the focus has been less on capturing content and more on working in a way that is responsive to people, place, and cultural protocols, allowing stories to emerge.
